You and your significant other have the word “marriage” on the brain. You both know you were meant to be with each other and want to take your relationship to the next level. You’re thinking, “Let’s get engaged!” The next step would be to look at rings. The obvious way to do this would be if you both went to your local mall and took a “peek” at some. You presumably only get one engagement ring in your lifetime so you want to make sure it’s what you want. Ladies give your man some ideas of what you like. Men, find out your financing options and come up with a budget. The old fashioned saying is the engagement ring should be worth a total of your three-month salary. If you average $2,000.00 a month then the ring should be worth $6,000.00. This is the “old saying.” You don’t necessarily have to go with it. Figure out what you can swing and what you can’t. Don’t put yourself in total debt over it. Don’t limit yourself to just viewing mall jewelry stores either. Check out your local jewelry shop. Look around. See what catches your eye. Give yourself many options. The more options you have the better. You don’t have to buy the ring that day. You can start to save and go back at a later date. Just make sure you know what your significant other is looking for. Make note of it. You don’t have to go together to pick out the engagement ring. You can always do the old fashioned way and pick out the ring yourself and find the perfect time and place to propose to her.
